Governor Abiola Ajimobi has declared Thursday, February 5 and Friday, February 6, 2015 as public holiday in the state.
According to a release issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo, the holiday is to enable the people of the state to collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).
The governor enjoined the people to take full advantage of the public holiday by coming out massively to collect their PVCs, reiterating that it is an opportunity for them to connect with their future through voting for candidates of their choice.
Collection of PVCs has become a recurring issue across the country. Some have alleged that the cards are not available and that less than half of the registered voters across the country have collected their cards.
The problem in collecting the PVCs is now been cited as the major reason why some politicians and parties are seeking a postponement of the polls.
