Ajimobi Mourns Olubadan Wife’s Passage

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has described the death of the senior wife of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji; Olori Kudirah as unfortunate and disheartening.

Ajimobi expressed the sadness on Thursday, in a statement issued and signed by his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Mr. Yomi Layinka, adding that he received the news of with shock and disbelieve.

The Governor described the incident as a big loss, not only to the monarch, but also to the entire people of Ibadan, saying that he was greatly saddened by the passing away of Olori Kudirah.

“It is very unfortunate and disheartening, especially because we were still together with the Kabiyesi and the royal retinue at the Chief of Army Staff conference, held in Ibadan last week.

“Her death is still indeed a big loss, not only to the father, the Olubadan, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Adetunji, but to the entire people of Ibadanland. May the Almighty grant Kabiyesi, mama’s children and loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss.”

Meanwhile, Olori Kudirah died at the age of 71 in the early hours of Thursday. Until her death, she was the Iyaloja, Bolade, Oshodi Market, Lagos. She had since been buried according to Islamic rites at the Popoyemoja, Ibadan Palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
