Akala’s Son, Olamiju, Dumps Labour Party for APC in Ibadan

By Adeola Oladele, Ibadan

The move of former Oyo State governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, to join the ruling All Progressives Congress was further confirmed at the weekend by his son’s decision to decamp to the party with his supporters.

Olamiju, one of Akala’s children, at the weekend led other members of his father’s political family “Destiny Group,” to formally join the APC in Ibadan North Local Government Area of the state.

Another prominent leader of the group, Alhaji Omilabu Gandhi, a former chairman of the council was also received into the APC camp by the party’s chairperson in the local government, Alhaja Tinu Adigun, and other party chieftains amidst pomp and party.

While receiving the decampees, Adigun assured them of equal opportunities in the party, adding that “in APC, we don’t discriminate about when you join the party. What will distinguish you is your contribution and commitment
to the party.”

Other leaders of the group in attendance at the occasion were Alhaji Audu Marafa, Dr Kola Balogun, Alhaja Tairat Adeyemi and a host of others.

In the same vein, WESTERN POST was unofficially informed by a close source that Otunba Alao-Akala’s formal declaration for APC would be held in no distant time at a very grand venue when arrangements are concluded.
