The wife of Ondo state governor, Mrs. Betty Akeredolu has again extended good hands of gesture in form of cash gift to the senior citizens in the state.
Mrs. Akeredolu who presented cash to the aged at the Government House-ground, Akure, the Ondo State capital said that the rationale behind the gift to the elderly was borne out of the fact that, the administration recognises and respect old age.
She said: “It is a common phenomenon that all of you must have served in one capacity or the other in making the society a good place to live in. So, the time is now for you to be honoured as senior citizens ”
She said further that the same gesture will go round the whole 18 local governments area of the state.
“I want to say unequivocally that every local government across the state will benefit from the gesture,” she said.
The cash presentation coincided with the activities marking the 100 days in the office of the governor.
In her response, Madam Grace Odumakin thanked the wife of the governor for her gesture in catering for the aged and prayed God Almighty to be with the governor and his family.
Also speaking, Pa James Akinolu Ajayi said that a ministry under the office of her excellency, Women Affairs, has been taken care of them through the supervision of governor Rotimi Akeredolu. He, therefore, thanked Wife of the governor.
No fewer than 60 Senior citizens of the state benefited during the presentation.
It would be recalled that the Governor Akeredolu has lined up activities marking his 100 days in office, part of which was the extension of hands of fellowship to the senior citizens.
