Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has inaugurated his Commissioners and other top political officials on Wednesday to form a new cabinet to collectively run the affairs of the state.
However,the governor had forwarded list of 18 Commissioner-nominees to the State Assembly for screening and ratification by the legislators.
Akeredolu assumed office on February 24 as the sixth Civilian Governor of Ondo State following his victory after the competitive November 26, 2016 gubernatorial poll.
He was the former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and had also served as the Commissioner for Justice in the state under the military administration of late Anthony Onyearugbulem
The Governor took his time in picking his cabinet members which cut across all the 18 Local Government Areas and three Senatorial Districts.
He also swear in other political aides including Senior Special Assistants, SSA (Women Affairs) Mrs Titi Adeyemi; SSA (Oil&Gas) Benson Enikuomehin; SSA (Public&Inter Government Relations) Mrs Bunmi Ademosu; SSA (Agriculture)
The special advisers are Dr Jibayo Adeyeye, Victor Olabimtan, Alaba Isijola, Tunji Light Ariyomo, Raimi Olayiwola Aminu, Tobi Ogunleye, Princess Oladunni Odu, Dr Olawunmi Ilawole and Tunji Fabiyi.
Senior Special Assistants are Felix Rawa and Dr Wole Alade, while special assistants include Sowore Allen, Ebi Lubi, Banji Adewunmi and Folasade Arise.
The Commissioners will take charge of various ministries as members of the State Executive Council (SEC)
Akeredolu kept to his promise of inclusive but not over bloated cabinet with sizeable number of 18 commissioner-nominees,one from each local government area, which was unlike that of the immediate past administration with 23 Commissioners.
The development was hinged on the present economic hardship in the country.
The Commissioner nominees are:
Yemi Olowolabi the former Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the late Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, who also hails from Idanre.
A seasoned media practitioner, he worked as a Reporter/Senior Assistant Editor at the Tell Communications Limited, Lagos, Publishers of Tell Magazine.
Olowolabi is also the Editor-in-Chief/Chief Executive Officer, Red Carpet Communications Limited, Lagos.
He coordinated the media and publicity for Akeredolu Campaign Organisation which facilitated victory for the incumbent Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Son of late former governor Adebayo Adefarati, Otunba Gboyega Adefarati, (Akoko South-West); former Commissioner for Natural Resources, Prince Sola Amodeni (Akoko South-East); former Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Taofiq Abdulsalam (Akoko North-East); former Lagos Lawmaker, Mrs Omowumi Olatunji-Edet (Akure South); Seasoned Banker and Hotelier, Timehin Adelegbe (Ose); Kola Olawoye (Owo); former Education Secretary, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye (Akure North).
Others are: University teacher at the Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU) Ile-Ife, Prof Bayonle Ademodi (Ondo East); former Chief of Staff (CoS), Femi Agagu (Okitipupa); former commissioner for Finance, Wale Akinterinwa (Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo);
Only two are women, Mrs Omowumi Olatunji-Edet and Mrs Lola Fagbemi are nominated commissioners.
The commissioners will soon be given their portfolios to begin work in their respective ministries.
