Oyo State Controller of Prisons, Mr Tosin Akinrujomu has appealed to Oyo State Government on  the award of the construction of Chief Magistrate Court in the vicinity of the new Maximum Security Prison to aid  speedy dispensation of Justice as at when due.
Mr Akinrujomu made the appeal during the commissioning of four operational vehicles for the command at the Headquarters in Ibadan.
The operational vehicles are, state of the art Ambulance, Official Car for the Controller of Prisons and two TATA Green  Maria Pick-UP Vans for conveyance of inmates to court.
According to him, having a Magistrate Court close to the facility would drastically reduce the strain of taking inmates to court ten kilometers away adding that it would  also aid  speedy dispensation of justice as at  when due.
“The importance of  Maximum Security Prison can never be over emphasized, it is an ultra modern facility that will drastically reduce overcrowding in the two remaining  facilities in the state immediately it starts  operations.”
While commending the federal government for being committed to the operational upgrading of the Nigeria Prisons service to measure up to International Standard, the Oyo State Prison Controller  said this would be the third time the effective administration of  the Controller General of Prisons, Alhaji Ja’afaru Ahmed would be facilitating the purchase and delivery of operational vehicles from the federal government.
“I should respectfully inform you that the serenity and peace in prison facilities across the nation today are the results of tireless and hardworking Controller General of prisons, whose vision is the safe keeping of the legally interned, the reformation and rehabilitation of the criminally minded ones before reintegrating them back to the society.
“Just last week, three discharged inmates that learnt carpentry, Mason and welding vocations were given tools to practice the trade they learnt while in prison. They will be closely monitored by by our After Care Unit Officers to ensure that they are putting the tools into use they are meant for.”
Mr Akinrujomu said all the 26 inmates who wrote NECO in Agodi Prison Facility  last year under the change mantra of Controller General of Prisons  had five credit in all subjects registered for adding that the ultimate goal is to get them admitted into the National Open University where they can study any course of their choice and come out as hopeful and responsible people.
Speaking earlier at the programme, the State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi who was ably reprensented by his deputy, chief Moses Alake Adeyemo commended the state controller of Prison in the state  for the feat and hardwork.
He also thanked the Federal Government for giving the operational vehicles to the command to boost and enhance their activities in the state, just as he assured the command of government continued support to improve and enhance their work.
