…calls for youths involvement

The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, His Majesty Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, had secured land for agricultural activities of Egba Youth under the auspices of the Lisabi Festival Arrangement.
His Royal Majesty Oba Adedotun Gbadebo disclosed this while speaking at the Festival symposium on the empowerment of youth through agriculture and acquisition of skills.
The Alake advised the Youth to be more proactive in being employers rather than looking for jobs that are no longer available nowadays.
He commended various organisations which are synergizing to train the youth in various businesses and skills in order to make them economically independent,socially responsible and be in position to add value to the living standards to Egba and the country as a whole.
The Egba Monarch commended Sen Ibikunle Amosun for emulating Taraba State Governor by personally sponsoring 100 Ogun State indigenes to learn any of the 18 registered skills at the Peter Akinola Foundation Skill Acquisition Ans Entrepreneur Programme adding that himself had also joined the queue of those sponsoring youth at that Foundation and other training centres.
He also commended various organisation for responding to his clarion call to actively assist n training the youth and other Egbas to be self sufficient.
A fishery expert, Dr F Adeosun informed the Egba youth that they could become financially comfortable if they engaged in fish farming.
Dr Adeosun cited the success story of fish farming training in Epe,Lagos State whereby the annual turnover of the youths who has gone through training in fishery ran into millions of naira.
In the Chairman’s remark, Prof Oluwafunmilayo Adebambo disclosed that the Ijebu Ode Poverty alleviation scheme makes over a billion fresh and processed fish.
The vice chairman of Egba Economic Summit and former commissioner of Ogun state for finance and economic development, Mr Kehinde Shogunle said that the summit had made enough provision to train Egba youth in many areas of economic activities.
Mr. Shogunle said that he was worried with the way Egba Youth were not taking prompt and adequate advantage of getting themselves into gainful employment, adding that those who registered with them were being taken care of and some of them were said to be doing fine and already turned employers.
Mrs Adeosun expressed sadness the way many Egba youth and other youth engage themselves in internet fraud otherwise known as YahooYahoo and gambling exercises which in the long run is bound to bring failure.
A Director of the Bank of Industry, Mr Ife Martins said that their organisation is ready to support Lisabi Festival Intiative onthe youth empowerment and skill acquisition by making available soft loans.
Mr martins disclosed that various categories of soft loans would available for the youth including the youth corpers, the SMEs and others which can only be accessed by those who have genuine business plan and practicable ideas to judiciously utilised the loan.
He also commended the Ogun State Government for making available soft loans through the BoI to support grassroot market men and women.
While heargued that there was no reason why any serious youth or businessman should be poor with the bank of industry support plan.
The Lisabi Festival activities continues tomorrow with the visit to the Lisabi Forest by 9am and also in the afteenoon with the visit to the Hero of the Year, Oba Okukenu I at 2pm
