EXCLUSIVE: Alakija of Ikija, Oba Ayorinde, Joins His Ancestors at 88

It is a sad Saturday for the people of Ikija Community in Egbaland, Ogun State as His Royal Highness, Oba Shamusideen Ayorinde, Alakija of Ikija, has joined his ancestors.

Oba Ayorinde passed on at 88 after a brief illness.

The news of his death was released by his brother, Engineer (Chief) Seni Ayorinde, and daughter, Chief Bola Ayorinde, who is also the Otun Lika of Egbaland.

They disclosed that the late Egba monarch died in the early hours of Saturday in Abeokuta of age-related ailment.

During his lifetime, the late Oba Ayorinde was a peace-loving and community-driven monarch in Egbaland and Ogun State as a whole.

He is survived by wives, many children and grandchildren.

According to the family, burial rites of the late traditional ruler will be conducted by the Egba Muslim Organisation.

It will begin at 10 am on Sunday, July 5th, 2020.
