Former governor of Oyo State and Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, has described as false speculations that he had agreed to dump his governorship ambition for another candidate.
Alao-Akala, who spoke through Dr Kola Balogun, the Director-General, Alao-Akala/Alli Campaign Organisation, said in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital that he was not stepping down for anybody.
There had been widespread speculations that Alao-Akala had enterd into a pact to step down for the incumbent Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
The LP candidate said he had no pact with any candidate or the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging the people of the state to discountenance such speculations being “peddled by a drowning party”.
“The speculation is not true at all but mischievous and deceitful. How will a party, which is growing everyday sign such with a faded party?
“It is never true and will never happen ,” he said.
Alao-Akala said it was a ploy by the APC to confuse the electorate who he claimed had since resolved to return him as the governor with their votes come February 28.
He said the people of the state are tired of “the anti-people policies” of the present government, adding that the LP would alleviate the people’s sufferings.
The former governor said he would never be part of any unholy alliance with any political party or candidate.
“Let me advise the APC to desist from spreading untrue information but work on how to woo the people with their anti people policies.
“The people are wiser and cannot be hoodwinked the APC’s usual lies and antics,” he said.
The former governor urged the people to cast their votes for all LP candidates, adding that a vote for LP was a vote for the return of good governance.
