The ancient Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Oyo State, is now wearing a new look in readiness for President Goodluck Jonathan and Peoples Democratic Party campaign train, which hits the city on Monday.
The President, his deputy, Vice President Namadi Sambo, PDP Chairman Adamu Mu’azu and other leaders of the party are expected to address the rally, which is the third stop after the campaign was launched in Lagos last Thursday.
The rally is slated to begin at 10 am. After the rally in Ibadan, the PDP campaign train will move to Abeokuta, Ogun State.
One of the PDP leaders in the Oyo State, Alhaji Yekeen Adeojo, said the party stalwarts and PDP’s teeming supporters were waiting patiently for the President’s campain train, saying the party is poised to deliver the state to President Jonathan on February 14.
On arrival in Ibadan, President Jonathan and his entourage will pay a courtesy call on the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Odulana Odugate 1. Senate President David Mark had represented President Jonathan, after he could not personally make the centenary celebration of the traditional ruler in April last year.
Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi will be at the Ibadan airport to receive the President and his entourage as they arrive on Monday.
The governor’s Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Dr. Festus Adedayo, said the governor would only receive President Jonathan at the airport, as a mark of honour, but would not follow him to the campaign ground.
