The Provost, Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu-Ijebu, Ogun State, Dr Lukmon Adeola Kiadese, has frowned at a recent report in one of the national dailies, alleging that he used the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), of the institution to finance festive gifts to Imams, Pastors and political appointees in the state, while salaries of institution workers were not been paid.
He also frowned at the newspaper “for stooping to an unprofessional level by publishing such unverified false report without recourse to him,” adding that the content of the report were completely untrue and those behind the report were unhappy with his overwhelming achievement and development of the institution, but wanted to tarnish his image.
His words, “My attention has been called to a publication by the Daily Independent, in their newspaper of 17th April, 2019 in which it was stated that he used the IGR to finance festive gifts to Imams, Pastors and political appointees in the state while salaries were not been paid, it further stated that he draws N3million rebate on monthly basis from the purse of the institution to settle the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa.
“It is very unprofessional and indeed shameful for a seemingly reputable newspaper like the Daily Independent to make such wild accusation without verifying the source of their information and without any recourse to me, indeed, I was shocked, highly embarrassed to read such malicious and misguided news from such a reputable newspaper”, Kiadese said.
He said that the college under his watch has been increased its IGR to finance and argument the state subvention in payment of salaries, noting that with less than 2,000 students’ enrolment and N38,000 as school fees, how would the college now generate the sum of N400 million in two years, as the newspaper speculated.
He added that the college has witnessed a tremendous development under his supervision in the last two years, ranging from the accreditation exercise of the College in 2018, full accreditation status for all the 27 courses offered by the college, secured Degree programmes in affiliation with Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, which took off in 2018 after National Universities Commission Resource Assessment visit to the college, movement of the Administrative arms of college to the Permanent site within four month of his assumption of office.
Amongst his achievements in the college including allocation, beautification and equipping of staff offices, renovation, painting and artistic designs of some building and college gate house, sponsorship of both teaching and non-teaching staff for training, re-training and prompt payment of salaries arrears to staff of the college.
He added that he facilitated the donation of Internet facilities, e-pads to the college by the National Communications Commission, development of a new website and mobile application to make the college feasible to the outside world, connection of electricity to the main campus from the National grid, installation of air-conditioners to staff offices and that of Heads of department offices, construction and equipment of School of science complex through TETFund intervention to mention but a few.
“You see, I don’t normally dignify such spurious allegation with a response. However, for the sake of my beloved people of the College and the general public, so that they will not be misled by the falsehood thrown about by some individuals or group of individuals in a bid to get attention or become relevant, that is why I have to set the record straight”, Kiadese said.
