Alleged Generator Thief Apprehended in Ilorin

Pandemonium broke out at Gaa-Odota/Olorunsogo in Ilorin West Local government Area of Kwara State following the announcement by “Home of Salaty Quadiriyya Mosque” urging residents of the community to be extra vigilant as two tiger-brand generator sets, one medium size and the other popularly call “I better pass my neighbour,” were carted away by unknown person(s) in the early hour of Monday.

The generator set was discovered missing immediately the occupants of Salaty House returned back to call muslim faithful for prayer after ‘Sari,’ which made them to call the attention of residents of the area to the theft.

The announcement prompted the residents to trace the generators and this yielded positive result as it was found at House No 5 in possession of one Akin, a generator repairer in his early twenties who lives at a  storey building behind the house from where the generator set ‘disappeared’.

One of the generator sets was found in his compound while the other was seen under his mother’s sewing machine.

Residents around said Akin was suspected to have stolen the gen set because it was found in his possession lamenting the regular occurrence of such act in recent times in the area.

With this development, the ‘A’ Division Police Station in Adewole, Ilorin, was contacted to arrest the alleged thief. He denied stealing the generator set, but the suspect alongside all male residents in the house including his aged father were arrested.
