Adeola Oladele, Ibadan
The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Katsina has vowed to ensure that hoodlums that involved in the murder of a Divisional Police Officer at Adekile area of Ibadan are arrested and brought to book.
CP Katsina stated this while conducting Governor Abiola Ajimobi round the scene of the incident at Adekile in Ibadan North East Local Government Area of the state, where some hoodlums killed a DPO and caused mayhem.
The state’s police boss stated that the slained police officer went to Adekile in response to a distress call by one of the residents in the area, who alleged that her baby was kidnapped and kept inside a particular building at Adekile.
According to Mr Katsina, the DPO visited the area and inspected the building in question, but could not find anything relating to the lodged complaints, but while he was explaining to the youths to remain calm as further investigation would be carried out, the DPO was attacked and shot in the head.
He explained that before he fell, the DPO, being a gallant officer also managed to shoot his attacker, who also died on the way to the hospital.
CP Kastina, thereafter, reiterated the commitment of the police force to ensure that all culprits in the DPO’s attack are arrested to face the wrath of the law.
In his remark, Governor Ajimobi appealed to the people of the state to avoid violence in all ramifications, as no development could take place in an atmosphere of violence.
He pledged his support to the police force to ensure that the perpetrators of the dastardly act are brought to book.
As at the time of filling this report, the entire Adekile area is still under a close watch of armed police men.
Recall that last Wednesday, some people had raised an alarm that a new kidnappers’ den had been discovered at Adekile area of Ibadan.
