The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State on Thursday apologized to the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Barrister Mutiu Agboke, over allegation that he collected N10million bribe from Governor Seyi Makinde.
PDP secretary, Mr. Wasiu Adeleke who spoke on behalf of the party’s executive members apologized for the development and expressed happiness for meeting with the REC for the first time.
He acknowledged the efforts of Barrister Agboke for allowing a level playing field in the last 2019 elections in which the PDP had a majority victory, describing Agboke as “a man of honor, sincerity, and integrity.”
On the alleged N10million bribe, Adeleke apologized to the REC for the embarrassment, noting that the person who released the story was not a member of the PDP as he remained faceless.
In his response, Agboke appreciated the PDP state Exco for their visit to the commission.
The REC made a roll call of those who came with the list of the Exco submitted to the commission in 26th July, 2018 to be double sure it correlated accordingly.
Agboke enjoined the PDP to always honor the invitation of the commission whenever they are invited to stakeholders programme.
On the allegation of the bribe, Barrister Agboke assured that there was no amount of blackmail that would prevent him from doing the right thing, saying, the allegations were nothing but falsehood.
