So it’s already one year ago that Nigeria lost one of its most prolific filmmakers, Amaka Igwe to the cold hands of death. Wow! How time ‘flies’
Amaka was a pioneer of modern Nigeria Television drama and movie production and was at the forefront of the effort to advance the nation’s movie industry.
An Africa Movie Academy Awards essay about the late movie producer stated:” Amaka Igwe’s effort as a motion picture practitioner has drawn international recognition for the burgeoning Nigerian motion picture industry. Some of her early efforts like Checkmate and Violated have largely remained a watershed in the history of soaps and movie production in Nigeria.”
She passed on to the great beyond on April 28, 2014 in Enugu at the age of 51.
Her legacy lives on.
