There is indication that the incumbent Governor of Lagos State and a governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded primary election, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, may defect to the opposition party in the state, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), as he is set to address the state on television on his next move.
Early today, it was noticed that Governor Ambode had removed his profile and the APC logo on his Twitter handle@AkinwunmiAmbode.
Sources within government said that he is likely to announce new party in the next few hours and that he is considering moving to the Peoples Democratic Party. The sources explained that the PDP had am established structure across the 20 Local governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.
It will be recalled that the incumbent Governor Ambode lost to Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu at the governorship primary election held yesterday in the 245 wards in the state.
Babajide Sanwo-olu had 970,851 while Akinwunmi Ambode polled 72,901.
