The much ado over the choice of Prince Aladetoyinbo as the Deji of Akure has been finally laid to rest as he was given the staff of office on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at the Cocoa Conference Hall, Governor’s Office, Akure, the state capital.
Presenting the staff, the Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, congratulated the new Deji, on behalf of Governor Olusegun Mimiko and the good people of the state for ascending the throne of his forefathers.
Aladetoyinbo, a prince from the Osupa Ruling House, who had contested the throne 12 times before now, has clinched the crown as the 47th King of the ancient city. Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, Odundun ll , a successful businessman, who lives in Baltimore, United States of America(USA), was full of joy while responding to the appointment.
He said it had never been so stressful for the kingmakers like this for the past 120 years where 13 aspirants would be contesting for the vacant stool of the Deji of Akure and from which only one candidate would be unanimously elected.
He said further that he would express the hand of fellowship to all the co- contestants to join him in moving the community forward.
“My dear people of Akure kingdom, it is my determination as the Deji of Akure to profoundly promote peace, respect for the constituted authority and the traditional institution of our emerging millennium city of Akure,” he said.
The new Deji prayed God to make his reign as Deji a blessing for all and sundry.
