Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun Saturday, named the first flyover in Ijebu-Ode after the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Dr. Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
Amosun said this at the grand luncheon party to Mark the 80th birthday of the monarch held at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state.
Amosun, who spoke in the presence of representative of President Goodluck Jonathan and other dignitaries, described the Awujale as a fearless Oba, who has used his wealth of experience to develop the entire Ijebuland.
He explained that, the contribution of the monarch, who has spent 54 years on the throne, could not be quantified with anything.
“What is that you want to give Kabiyesi that he doesn’t have, is it cars? Is it houses? But, we want to give Kabiyesi something that we know that in 50 years, 100 years down the line, people will look and say what is this and people will say that is one of our Obas, that is the Oba of Ijebuland that dignified the entire landscape of Ijebuland positively. Of course Kabiyesi, this is a token, I know so many would still come.
“The first flyover that we did in Ijebuland we will name it Oba Dr. S K Adetona flyover, I want generations yet unborn to remember him when the history of this state is being written,” he said.
