Various groups under the platform of Yoruba World Congress on Tuesday staged a rally in support of the implementation of the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed “Operation Amotekun”.
In the rally held from Government Arcade, Agodi, Ibadan to state secretariat, Ibadan, hundreds of supporters held banners, rendered songs and chants maintaining that there was no going back on Amotekun.
There was the presence of security operatives at the venue including the officers from the Department of State Service and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The venue was also besieged with reporters and photojournalists.
Inscriptions on the banners displayed by the protesters read “Yoruba Omo Oodua: Protect Yourself, Amotekun”, “On Amotekun we stand”, “We want to know who owns the Land. Amotekun”, No Amotekun, No Hisbah”, among others.
