Annual Oke Maria Pilgrimage: Six Persons Die In Ghastly Auto Crash In Osun

Six persons were confirmed dead in a ghastly motor accident that occurred on Sunday morning in Eripa, Boluwaduro Local Government of Osun State.

The accident which was said to be fatal and alone crash was said to have occurred around 11:00am involving a bus with registration number: LAGOS GGE 109 DY belonging to SS Peter and Paul, Lagers, Ile Ife.

The victims of the accident, were said to have participated in an annual Oke Maria pilgrimage in Otan Ayegabju, Osun State and were returning when the bus lost control and ran into a ditch in Eripa

The annual pilgrimage was held on Saturday where thousands of worshippers gathered for prayers at the Oke Maria mountain located in Otan Ayegbaju.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) were said to have arrived at the scene and evacuated the accident victims from the bus with the help of residents of the community.

It was gathered that the remains of the dead have been deposited in LAUTECH for post Mortem while the injured victims were first treated at a private hospital in Iree.

The State Commissioner of Police, who confirmed the accident has directed an investigation into the cause of the accident.
