The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress APC in Ondo State has taken a new dimension as some party chieftains accompanied by some youths and various women organisations sealed off the party secretariat along Oyemekun Road, Akure in the early hour of Thursday.
Some of the youths chanting anti-chairman’s slogans and carrying placards bearing different inscriptions were said to be thugs.
As at the time of filling this report, the chairman of the party in the state, Hon. D.I Kekemeke, could not be reached on his mobile phones for comment.
The party secretariat at the popular Oyemekun Road was put under lock and key by the angry party members and youths chanting ‘no to imposition of candidate’.
Last week, one of the aspirants vying for the party’s ticket, Dr. Segun Abraham, was said to have been endorsed by the National Leader of the party, Senator Bola Tinubu, for the office.
This did not go down well with other aspirants who had paid a huge sum for the nomination form.
Speaking on behalf of some of the aspirants, prominent lawyer, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, had condemned Tinubu for endorsing Abraham.
But in a rare response, Tinubu said he was entitled to his right to also have a candidate of his choice in the race.
