All Progressives Congress (APC) Lawmakers elected into the Lagos State House of Assembly have risen from a crucial meeting of all stakeholders to pick a consensus candidate for the speakership position in the 8th Assembly.
Western post gathered that after deliberating for hours on who to lead the state assembly, Hon Mudashiru Obasa was eventually picked and endorsed by about 20 honourable members who had shown interest in the position.
It was gathered that of all the candidates that indicated interest, thirteen legislators are returning for second term, four are on their third term, while three of the legislators are returning for the fourth term.
Hon. Obasa is a returning legislator of the All Progressives Congress. He emerged the winner of the Agege Constituency 1 seat of Lagos House of Assembly for the fourth time at the April 11 elections.
Hon. Obasa served as Chairman, House Committee on Economic Planning and Budget in the 7th assembly.
Barring any last minute change in permutation, Obasa will take over from the outgoing Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, who served as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly for eight years
