All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors rose behind recuperating President Muhammadu Buhari, saying it was not compulsory for the president to preside over the Federal Executive Council meeting and that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is in place to do that.
Twenty-four of the party’s governors who met with the party leadership in Abuja on Wednesday said the nation’s constitution had provided for a vice president because of cases as presently being experienced.
Speaking on behalf of the governors after the meeting, Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai, said the APC governors had resolved to now be meeting every month on the state of the nation.
Since his return from about 50 days medical vaccation in the United Kingdom, President Buhari has been taking things easy including official work.
He has only been seen on Fridays at Jumat service in the last three weeks. He has missed the FEC meeting thrice.
At Wednesday FEC meeting this week, he was again absent.
Justifying his absence, the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the president had earlier told the Vice President to preside over the meeting and that he would operate from home.
