In a bid to resolve the gulf over the choice of Senate President and House of Representatives’ Speaker, the All Progressives Congress (APC) will hold a crucial meeting with all its Senators-elect and House of Representatives members-elect on Thursday, June 4th, at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.
According to a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by is National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party explained that it would meet with its Senators-elect at 10 a.m. while the meeting with its elected members of the House of Representatives is scheduled for 2 p.m. on the same day at the same venue.
It urged all the elected APC federal lawmakers to be punctual for their respective meetings.
The issue of who will occupy the positions of Senate President and House Speaker has polarised the party’s lawmakers down the line.
Senator Ahmed Lawan from Yobe and Senator Bukola Saraki are pitted against each other for the Senate President slot while Hon. Yakubu Dogara from Bauchi and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila from Lagos are slugging it out for the House Speakership.
