A House of Representatives aspirant for Ifako/Ijaiye Federal House of Representatives in Lagos, Hon. Dayo Saka-Fafunmi has expressed confidence in the Thursday primary elections for the National Assembly aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC), while calling for a perfection of the direct primary process adopted by the party in the state.
Speaking with journalists in Ward A, Ogba area, where he was waiting to cast his vote, Fafunmi stated that the direct primary is a bit cumbersome, but that it is an avenue for popular candidates to emerge.
“I will say the direct primary process is cumbersome. It might be difficult for the people to determine the winner easily. We have been here since 8am and this is 2 pm, we are yet to vote.
“During the governorship primary, we all queued up and we elected the person we wanted and the whole process was easier.
“Direct primary is meant for people with good records to reap the fruits of their labour. The people would support you if you have done well,” he said.
Fafunmi, who is currently a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, however, said that he could not preempt what would happen after the primary election.
He stressed that no one was sure of what the result would be like, but that with the way people were rooting for him he would win the election, but that there was nothing he could do if it is otherwise.
