Demola Atobaba, Ado-Ekiti
An aide to the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Dapo Karounwi, has boasted that the All Progressives Congress (APC), will win the general election come 2015.
Karounwi, who has obtained his expression of interest form for the Ekiti Central Senatorial seat said his party would also retain all the seats in the National Assembly.
Addressing journalists in Ado-Ekiti, he said: “I have no doubt in my mind I would win the election on the ticket of the APC, given the clear record of achievement of my party in Ekiti, my experience as a grassroots politician and my links with individuals and groups at the grassroots.
“That my party is not in power does not mean I will not win. I have every hope and assurance I would win this election.”
The former Special Adviser on Legislative Duties to former governor Kayode Fayemi said his experience and performance as a commissioner and a member of the House of Assembly in Ekiti would count in his favour.
Karounwi said the failure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the national level was enough to vote against the party in the general elections.
“Given the monumental corruption, the ceding of territory to Boko Haram and the entire near-absent infrastructural facilities, Nigerians would vote for a change.”
Karounwi also said the PDP did not have the cohesion as much as the APC in the state, added: “We are a party to beat.
“We still have the best grassroots inter-connectivity, the best cohesion, the best structure. PDP will soon realise it has nothing to fight the coming national elections in Ekiti. APC is clearly ahead in all parameters.”
