*EXCOS now to transform into Caretaker Committees at all levels
The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday dissolved all states and zonal national party structures.
At the NEC emergency virtual meeting at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, however, disagreed with the dissolution of all wards, local governments, states, and zonal party structures.
Osinbajo put up a strong defense, but he was a lone voice in the wilderness.
The meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee and Yobe State Governor Mai Bala Buni and began with President Buhari addressing the meeting.
The president, Buni, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, House Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, and governors attended physically while other NEC members joined virtually.
The intervention later paid off with the final decision for the members of the dissolved excos to transform into Caretaker Committees at various levels and conduct the forthcoming congresses.
WESTERN POST gathered also that the Governors at the meeting also advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to honor the planned invitation of the President by the National Assembly to brief it on security issues.
President Buhari is billed to appear before the joint session of the assembly on Thursday.
But the APC Governors are opposing the invitation.
