Aregbesola Charges Workers to Improve Production to Sustain New Salaries

Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has charged workers across the country to work towards improve production of services to sustain payment of new wages and salaries being demanded by the workers.
Addressing the state workers at this year Mayday rally held at Osogbo township stadium on Tuesday, Aregbesola said that though he was not against demand of new salaries for workers but the labor force should increase it production to sustain payment of the new Salary.
Said the Governor, “I support demand of workers for a new salary, the only way to sustain payment is to increase our production.
“The situation in Nigeria today is that free money is no longer available, we now have to look inward to improve our revenue base,” he stressed.
Aregbesola while thanking the workers for supporting his administration in the last seven and half years stated that “workers are viable instruments for a successful execution of projects because no government can succeed without the cooperation of it workforce. “
The Governor said that he has lifted carrier progression of the workers in the state with nine teachers appointed as Headmaster General while three others were appointed as Tutor General.
He said that he also made huge sum of money available to pay the pension of workers while he also named a dual carriageway as Workers Drive.
In his address, Osun state chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Jacob Adekomi said that the workers appreciated the naming of street at Olaiya junction after the workers.
He however said that the workers were looking forward to payment of good salary to workers as well as payment of the balance of modulated salaries to the state workers.
The May day rally was well attended by all category of workers from different unions who participated in March past to honour the Governor.
