Some suspected hoodlums have attacked the Personal Assistant to Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Mr Olateju Adunni, at a birthday party in Osogbo.
It was gathered that the thugs also attacked the Personal Assistant to the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon Timothy Owoeye, popularly known as ‘Pentagon’ and the elder brother to the Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Dr Ajibola Basiru.
A member of the Osun state House of Assembly, Hon Badamasi Olatunde Taofeek, who represents Osogbo state constituency was said to have organized the birthday party at a restaurant in Oroki Estate, Osogbo, when the thugs attacked them around 10:30pm.
It was further gathered that the thugs, came in an 18-seater bus led by two armed policemen , who shot into the air before the thugs unleashed machete cut on Aregbesola’s aide and others.
The Group 1 Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osogbo and Olorunda Local Government Areas of Osun State, Mr Kazeem Oyewale, popularly known as Asiri was alleged to have led the attack.
In his reaction, however, Oyewale denied his involvement in the attack.
He claimed that he was not even aware of the birthday party or the venue, not to talk of leading hoodlums to launch the attack.
He stated that there was no justification for him to attack anyone, adding that “there are attempts by some people to malign my name.
“People know I am a member of the All Progressives Congress and how possible is it for me to attack fellow members of the party that I belong.
“I don’t have any issue with Teju, neither was I aware of the birthday party. I want to also say that I am not involved in the rift between Aregbesola and Oyetola.
“I was at Adebimpe Event Centre, Stadium area in Osogbo on Sunday night, where the popular Fuji Musician, Abass Akande Obesere was performing at a ceremony.
“How then can I be at the birthday party at the same time? It was when I was with Obesere that I got the false news that I led some thugs to attack some people,” he said.
