The Special Adviser to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Youths and Sports, Aremo Adelabu has distributed School Uniforms to Primary School pupils in Osogbo, the state capital.
The schools that benefitted from the gesture are L.A Primary School, Gbonmi, St. Andrew Primary School, Oke Bale and AUD Primary School, Isale Agbara, all in Osogbo.
Adelabu who is also the founder of Adelabu Aremo Foundation during the distribution ceremony, that took place at L.A Primary School playing ground, stated that his action did not have any political undertone but was as a result of sympathy he has for less privileged students whom their parents could not afford to buy them school uniform but have passion for education.
He also said that the gesture was to complement the effort of the state Governor in his bid to provide qualitative education in the state.
He noted that education was bedrock to the development process of any society, saying “to achieve a brighter future, we have to pay attention to the progress of our children.
“This is just the tip of the iceberg, I am still going to do this in Olorunda, Ifon-Orolu and across the state.”
Aremo who is an old student of LA Primary School recalled the day he came to collect his Primary School Leaving Certificate in the school and saw how some pupils of the school dressed in deterred uniform and was moved and vowed to give free school uniforms to the pupils.
The Special Adviser who said it is essential to play a role in reducing the burden on parents and guardians to get the new school uniforms and writing materials said whatever they do, they do it to complement the effort of the Governor of the state.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of Adelabu Aremo Foundation, Olori Aderonke Adelabu, said the foundation was established to cater for children and women in the society.
She said they would continue to give back to the society through their foundation then urged women in the state to continue to support Oyetola’s administration.
The foundation, also distributed clothing materials to about 50 women, soaps, hand sanitizers, pens to teachers and boxing gloves just as he dolled out cash to no fewer than 20 Ilerioluwa Coordinators.
The wife of the Governor, Alhaja Kafayat Oyetola who was represented by the wife of the Deputy, Mrs. Olufunke Alabi enjoined the pupils to face their studies and shun anything capable of tarnishing the image of their parents.
