An unidentified passenger was on Tuesday night killed by a gang of armed robbers along Osogbo/Ibokun road of Osun State.
The armed robbers were said to have barricaded the road leading to Ibokun from Osogbo shooting and robbing passengers of their belongings.
One of the passengers of the vehicle that is heading to Esa-Oke from Osogbo was said to have been killed by gunshot.
It took the prompt intervention of the Osun State Security Network code-named “Amotekun” to dislodged the robbers.
The Field Commander of the Corps, Comrade Amitolu Shittu informed journalists that he received a distress call from the residents of Ibokun to the robbery operation on the road.
He said the Amotekun Corps swang into action immediately to dislodged the robbers.
One of the residents of a town close to Ibokun who pleaded anonymity disclosed that one of the vehicles attacked was coming from Osogbo and was heading to Esa-Oke before he was attacked by the robbers where one of the passengers of the vehicle was killed by the robbers.
The resident commended the Field Commander and the officers of Amotekun for their prompt intervention to save the residents and passersby of the area on the attack by the robbers.
It was gathered that the remains of the passenger killed by the armed robbers was deposited at Morgue of Osun State General Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo.
