Eventually the day of reckoning has come. The sensational case of Akolade Arowolo who allegedly killed his banker wife has been decided.
Justice Lateefat Okunnu of Ikeja High Court this afternoon sentenced Arowolo to death for the murder of his wife, Titilayo, a staff of Skye Bank.
Arowolo who is a youth pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos, South-west has been on trial in the court since 2012 over the murder of his wife.
Titilayo was killed on June 24 at their residence at 8, Akindeinde Street, Isolo, Lagos.
Justice Okunnu held in her judgment that evidence before the court proved that Arowolo murdered his wife.
Arowolo slumped in court immediately the judgment was pronounced, shouting his innocence.
He had claimed that his wife fell on a knife during an argument in their residence on her birthday.
But relying on a forensic report conducted by Prof. John Oladipo Obafunwa, a pathologist, which revealed many stabbing wounds, the court held that there was no way the deceased could have stabbed herself to death.
Arowolo was immediately whisked away from the court after the judgment to await the hangman.
