According to figures published by the International Federation of
Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) recently, the London club ranked seventh in the world ahead of other British sides, including league – leaders Chelsea FC, which was formerly ranked highest UK club.
The Gunners’ lifting of the FA Cup helped them rise on the IFFHS index, which uses a points-based system to rank teams based on matches won and drawn in their domestic and continental competitions.
The number of points up for grabs is based on the standard of each competition.
Arsenal scored maximum points, having played in the Premier League, qualified for the Champions League last time and progressed to the knockout stages this season.
However, Spanish side, Real Madrid are the number one team in the world. The team won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and
Copa del Rey in 2013/14.
Barcelona also made the top five teams’ list in the world
