Asun Night” Claims Two at Adeyemi College


Tragedy struck at the weekend at Adeyemi
College of Education (ACE)
Ondo, over the death of two students of the
institution, who were knocked down by a
commercial bus in the area.
The duo died instantly.
Another student of the college was said to have
been in coma and currently receiving treatment
at the Ondo Trauma
Center in the community.
The incident occured at about 10:45 pm on
Friday, when they were coming from an “Asun
Night” organised by the Alumni members of the
institution, as part of the activities marking the
50th aniversary of the ACE held at the campus
of the institution.
The ugly incident brought out the anger of
other colleagues of the deceased, which nearly
resulted in the burning of vehicles before the
situation was brought under control by the
It was gathered that the victims whose names
were given as Akinkuotu Toyosi, a Part 3
student of the English Department and
other, Omobolawa Bola Part 4 Physics student,
were said to be returning from the programme
on the fateful day, when the unfortunate
incident occurred.
The situation made other students to
immediately take to the streets. The following
morning again, the students were also out
protesting the death of their colleagues.
The students blocked the major roads in the
community, which later resulted in traffic jam
in various parts of the
ancient town.
However, the prompt intervention of security
men later brought normalcy to the school. As at
the time of filing this report, business activities
around the town had begun to gain momentum.
