It was a gathering of who is who in the country as Aliyu, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, wedded Fatima, daughter of former EFCC Chairman, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, at a high profile but low-key ceremony on Saturday in Abuja.
The Nikkai held at the Maitama, Abuja residence of Ribadu lasted about 40 minutes.
Traditionally, the bride and bridegroom were not present at the ceremony. The father of the groom, Atiku, was in attendance while the father of the bride, Ribadu, played the good host.
Retired General Aliyu Gusau stood for the groom’s family and made the marriage proposal while Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai accepted the proposal on behalf of the Ribadu family.
Chairman of TETFUND and Mutawale of Borno Kingdom, Alhaji Kashim Ibrahim- Imam, was the father of the day.
The residence was packed full with dignitaries from APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Chairman of the party’s National Caretaker Committee and Yobe State Governor, Mai Buni Bala, Governor Waziri Tambuwal, Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Kwara State Governor Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, and the Inspector- General of Police Adamu Muhammed.
Others who graced the wedding included former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, his former Nasarawa State counterpart, Senator Adamu Abdullahi, former Adamawa State Governor Murtala Nyako, and former Niger governor, Alhaji Muazu Babangida Aliyu.
There were also former Interim Chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, and some cabinet ministers in attendance.
