Baba Sala Hospitalised, in Critical Condition at UCH


Ace actor and one of the pioneers of Nigeria’s entertainment industry, Pa Moses Adejumo Olaiya, aka Baba Sala, is currently ill and in a critical state.

According to reports, the Oyo State-based popular thespian is currently undergoing treatment at the University College Hospital, Ibadan where he was rushed to on Monday night.

A report by Daily Post Nigeria has it that Pa Moses who marked his 80th birthday in May has been unstable lately and was reportedly experiencing a deteriorating health.

Also speaking with Punch Newspapers, his son also confirmed the sad incident but affirmed that he is responding to treatment.

Born in Ilesha in 1936, Baba Sala is a comedian, dramatist and actor.

He is regarded as the father of modern Nigerian comedy who popularized theater and television acting in Nigeria alongside other dramatists like Hubert Ogunde, Kola Ogunmola, Oyin Adejobi, and Duro Ladipo.

Baba Sala began his career in show business as a highlife musician, fronting in 1964 a group known as the Federal Rhythm Dandies, where he tutored and guided the jùjú music maestro King Sunny Adé who was his lead guitar player.
