United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon arrived Nigeria on Sunday with eight-man delegation aboard Air France. In his delegation were UN Under Secretary for Africa Mohammed Ibn Chambas and Prof. Babatunde Osotimehin.
He later went into a meeting with governors where he charged them to use the MDGs as benchmarks for their development programmes.
Ban Ki-Moon said because they are close to the people they should work towards their development.
Fifteen governors attended the meeting including the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari.
Ban Ki-Moon planned his visit to coincide with the 4th anniversary of the bombing of UN building in Abuja by Boko Haram terrorists in which some UN workers lost their lives.
