The Former Chairman of Ogun State People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Engr Bayo Dayo has been described as an ingrates politician for insulting his benefactor, Senator Buruji Kashamu.
The State Chairman of Labour Party (LP) and immediate past chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Ogun State, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi in a statement to Western Post made this known in Abeokuta.
Chief Dayo was alleged to have said his leader and benefactor Senator Kashamu is not a politician and that he should go and learn politics.
He added that Senator Kashamu had single-handedly sponsored Engr Dayo for 10 years as the party chairman.
According to his statement, “The questions to ask him are: when did he realize this? If it took him 10 years to realize this, does it not speak to his level of intelligence?
“What is his own definition of a politician? Perhaps a treacherous, shameless, deceitful and lying person like him! If not,
“It’s regrettable for Chief Bayo Dayo to say a man who almost singlehandedly made him State Chairman of the Party and sustained him in office for 10 solid years should go and learn politics from the same people who wanted to remove and disgrace him from office but never succeeded because of Senator Kashamu’s support for him.
“Chief Dayo spoke of the fact that he was a foundation member of the PDP in Ogun State and an Assistant State Organising Secretary.
“He should be reminded that in politics, as in life, it is not how far or long that matters but how well. Who knew him as an Assistant State Organising Secretary of the PDP? Nobody! The fact is: Kashamu made him a household name in the politics of Ogun State and beyond.
“If his cases are cited by lawyers and generation yet unborn as precedents and authorities, it is all because of Senator Kashamu”.
Arabambi said, “It is common knowledge that this same man that Chief Dayo is bad-mouthing and blackmailing has done so much for the people in uplifting their lives, including Chief Dayo and his son, through several empowerment initiatives.
“I am aware that his Omoilu Foundation caters for the health bills of many patients, awards scholarships to indigent students, gives grants to people to start small and medium scale businesses and distributed over 1,000 vehicles to people and still counting.
“The same man that Chief Dayo said doesn’t know politics installed him in Ogun State; took over the South West Zonal Exco that made the late Chief Ishola Fulani and others the zonal leaders of the Party and went national making Prof. Wale Oladipo and Mr.
“Fatai Adeyanju, the National Secretary and National Auditor of the PDP respectively; he became the Chairman, Organisation and Mobilisation Committee of the PDP in the South West; saw to the election of nine members of the State House of Assembly, two members of the House of Representatives, including Hon. Ladi Adebutu and Hon. Abdulmajid Adekoya (a.k.a Attacker) who is now the Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Representatives; prosecuted and won his own election to the Senate in 2015 even as an opposition against the government in power at the state and became a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP; and in 2019, he became the governorship candidate of the PDP – all in 10 years!
“Having played from the Ward to the local government, state, zonal and national level of politics, what other politics does he want him to learn? If all these credentials do not qualify Senator Kashamu to be one of the national leaders of the Party, I doubt what then can? Apart from the two-time Governor of Ogun State, H.E. Otunba Gbenga Daniel, whom Senator Kashamu has openly declared is his leader, no other politician in Ogun State has achieved these feats.
“I challenge Chief Dayo to tell the whole world how his politics has benefitted the people, if not his family and family alone, since he claims to be the Methusaleh of Ogun State PDP! But for his treacherous acts, I consider Chief Dayo as one of the students of Senator Kashamu’s school of politics but his many missteps have shown that he didn’t graduate”.
