The wife of Ondo State Governor, Mrs. Betty Akeredolu has charged participants of the 2019 “BEMORE” summer boot camp to who have participated in this year’s episode go to their various communities and be good ambassadors in initiating the positive change they have acquired .
Akeredolu who spoke at the closing ceremony of the 2019 BEMORE Summer boot Camp held at the University Auditorium, Federal University of Technology, Akure, on Friday,where she urged them to put all that they have gained and put it to the use of the communities where they hail.
No fewer than 250 Girls across the country participated in the two weeks summer boot Camp where they were trained in ICT, Solar panel development among other life skills and acquisitions.
The Girls went home with laptops. The figure was an addition to 750 Girls who had been trained in the last two years.
The event which was well attended and graced by well meaning Nigerians and attended by Ondo state commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs. Lola Fagbemi, big wigs in ICT industry, and the Olore of Ore, His Royal Majesty, Oba Johnson Olatomide as the royal father of the day, representative of the Ondo state National Youth Service Corps, Financial Institutions representatives and other top government officials.
Addressing the BEMORE Ambassadors, Chief Mrs. Akeredolu said the participants had been trained to be proficient in their chosen professions and leaders.
“BEMORE is structured to chart a new course, a grooming ground for a NEW BREED WITHOUT GREED. It is a university of life. The alumni are well aware of their position in society.” Akeredolu said.
The initiator of the BEMORE Empowered programme encouraged them to venture into creative thinking that would make them rule the World not only in ICT but in politics where decisions are taken.
The wife of the governor who did not rule out challenges in their quests to make difference in their communities charged the Girls to “rise above all confrontations, all intimidations to create the change this country greatly needs.”
Akeredolu said she is determined to equip Nigerian Girls with tools to succeed and protect them from harm mostly in the hands of rapists which will encourage them( the girls) to be more serious and useful.
“I attempted to tread cautiously with my transformative agenda I have for this country because there are enemies within who profit from our challenges as a nation. Nevertheless, I am determined to focus on the young girls who are not yet polluted with tribalism and rabid religiosity notorious with Nigerians.
“I got determined to equip them with the tools to succeed and protect them from harm: all manners of physical abuse; rape, in particular. I am certain that this will lead them to become leaders not only in technology but in all endeavors, especially politics where their voices are desperately needed to sit at the table of decision making.”
The Hon. Commissioner for Education in Ekiti state, Evangelist Folusho Daramola represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, Pastor Bamidele Owolabi who noted that giving children qualitative education during their younger ages would make them to catch everything pertaining to academics without stress.
Speaking on the gesture of Mrs. Akeredolu, Prince Tunde Akindele from the Institute for National Transformation described the Ondo first lady as a good pathfinder for the younger generation.
