The Secretary to the Government of Benue State (SSG), Barrister Targema Takema, slumped on Thursday night in his residence in Makurdi and is at present hospitalized at the State Teaching Hospital.
According to a source, the SSG may have suffered a stroke.
The Press Secretary to Governor Samuel Ortom, Terver Akase, who confirmed this incident to newsmen, said the governor had visited Barr. Takema at the hospital early Friday morning, maintaining that he is responding to treatment.
The sudden failing health may not be unconnected with the SSG’s case before the ICPC.
Takema is expected to appear before the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission, ICPC, next week to answer questions on the disbursement of the N28 billion bailout fund that was given to the State by the Federal Government.
