Worried by the security challenges in some part of North east of Nigeria and general election just around the corner, the Otaru of Igarra in Edo State, Oba Adeche Saiki has called for total implementation of the state of emergency declared in three states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.
He also urged for the removal of all democratic structure and appointment of sole administrators to enable military and other security personnel take charge of the security of the states.
Besides, he advised that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to conduct election in the affected states.
Speaking to WESTERN POST on sundry issues in his palace in Igarra Wednesday, Oba Saiki said: “As regards the security that the country is going through, my candid opinion is that it looks more political as it seems ordinary otherwise the emergency rule that is placed on three states in the north east should be total. Should be total in the sense that, all the civilian governors should be removed and put a sole administrator there preferably a retired military man so that the military can actually have control of the situation otherwise some politicians will still try to do other things negatively on the issue.
“Elections are coming next year and my advice will be that in these areas where emergency rule have been declared, they should avoid holding any elections there for now.”
Speaking on the Edo State government’s performance, the monarch said: “I must confess to you that the present administration headed by Adams Oshiomhole is one of the best I have ever witnessed since I ascended the throne. He started well; he is trying to spread all over the place even though he has not given 100 per cent of what we deserved in this local government. But I must confess that he is trying and he has promised that he is going to do a lot of things to open Igarra up and the entire local government. So I will give him a pass mark”.
