Boy, 16, Dies at Fasehun’s Hotel Swimming Pool in Lagos

It was all gloom and agony on Wednesday in Okota as a 16-year-old boy lost his life in tragic circumstance in the swimming pool of Century Hotel, a popular hotel on Ago Palace way, Okota, Lagos.

The hotel is owned by the Founder of Oodua People’s Congress and National Chairman of the new Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), Dr. Fredrick Fasehun.

The boy, a student of Ajumoni Secondary School, Okota, along with his three other friends had gone to Century Hotel, located on Century Bus stop, by Fredrick Fasehun Avenue, to swim.

The four of them were said to have enjoyed themselves swimming at the hotel and were set to leave when the tragedy occurred.

An eyewitness told WESTERN POST that the boy was at the tip of the pool, getting set to leave when he slipped back into the pool and hit his head on the concrete in the shallow end of the pool.

“His head was shattered; blood gushed out endlessly. He died instantly,” said the eyewitness.

The development immediately created grief and agony for the parents of the boy who live on Fasasi Iroko Street, Popoola Bus stop, Ago Palace Way. The father of the boy is said to be a tiler.

The corpse of the boy has been deposited at the mortuary of Isolo General Hospital. He will be buried on Monday.
