Braimoh’s Death: Lagos Lawmakers Commiserate With Family, APC, Holds Valedictory Session

The members of the Lagos State House of Assembly in a sad mood on Tuesday held a low key valedictory session in honour of the late lawmaker, Hon. Tunde Braimoh who until his death represented Kosofe Constituency 2 and as well chaired the House Committee on Information, Strategy and Security.

The lawmakers who put on black attires solemnly extolled the virtues of the late lawmaker, saying that he always make brilliant contributions to debates during his days as a parliamentarian. Virtually all the lawmakers who spoke, described Braimoh as a problem solver and socialite.

The Majority Leader, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade (Ikorodu 1) mourned the demise of the late lawmaker and commiserated with the people of Kosofe constituency 2.

In his contribution, Desmond Elliot (Surulere 1) eulogised the erudite lawmaker, describing him as a ‘ loving father and good personality’.

He said “Whatelse can we say to the lord but to say thank you. As Chairman House Committee on Information, you have made your mark”.

Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu ( Eti-Osa 02) while paying his own tribute to late Braimoh said, “In my mind Tunde Braimoh had a name for everyone of us most especially during our birthday celebrations.

” We are going to miss him. He stood out everywhere he went. He was sound legal mind and contributed extensively. He was very fluent with his vocabulary but what can we do because death is certain”, he said.

Yishawu, however commiserated with Speaker Obasa and the entire House and also with the national leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Hon. Richard Kasumu ( Ikeja 2) said, ” I rise today on a sad note. He spoke to me about life and death last time I saw him in the Chamber. Braimoh said, ‘one need to enjoy life because you don’t know when death will come. I am sure on his final journey home, the angel will celebrate him. He was an emdiment of knowledge”.

Hon. Victor Akande (Ojo 1) said, “It is indeed a sad day for Lagos Assembly but God will help us to overcome the darkness. Adieu to embodiment of intelligence”.

Hon. Rasheed Makinde ( Ifako Ijaiye 02) added that his demise was a rude shock to him. “He was a model in the House and master of grammar”, he said.

The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Wasiu Eshilokun-Sanni prayed that the House and the speaker will not lose any of the lawmaker again.

“We started the fourth republic together in 1999. He was sociable, and intelligent. I commiserate with Mr. Speaker, and I pray that may we not witness any loss in the state house of assembly again. May we all finish the journey together. I commiserate with his family members and this is one death too many.”, said Eshinlokun-Sanni

Hon. Rotimi Abiru ( Somolu 2) said, “one day all depart from this sinful world. It is Braimoh’s turn today, who knows the next person?

” We need to take cue from this. He has dropped in his own busstop but what can we do but to take solace from Almighty Allah”, he added.

Hon. David Sentoji (Badagry 02) in his contribution, said ” Tunde Braimoh was a very good. There was never a dull moment with. He was full of ideas, I will personally miss him. I commiserate with the family and the Speaker of the House. I pray it will never happen in this 9th Assembly again”

Hon. Temitope Adewale ( Ifako Ijaiye 1) said ” Before his demise, I sent a text message to him when I had not been seeing him at plenary sessions but I was shocked by the sad news of his death”

Adewale added that the House had lost a mouthpiece and a good friend to Obasa.

Hon. Lukmoh Olumoh (Ajeromi/Ifelodun 1) added ” I commiserate with Speaker Obasa on the lost of one of his trusted persons in this House. He was very courageous and brilliant. He chaired my committee and his someone I learnt many things from.

“There is nothing we could do as God giveth and taketh. I pray that God would grant him Aljana and give his family the fortitude to bear the loss,” he said.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa said Tunde Braimoh left without given any clue. “As I was trying to get out from the death of late Sen. Bayo Osinowo, he died.

According to him, I have lost a person ally. I remembered times he walked up to me to discuss issues ahead before I see it. He was one of the finest politicians in Kosofe and the vacuum he left can never be filled in the next decade.

Obasa said ” he was skilled in the House procedure and above all outstanding”.

” He is a respecter of constituted authority despite of his age and experience in public administration.

” He was an outstanding parliamentarian and we will all miss his brilliant contributions to debate. I will miss his cheerfulness. He was a philanthropist per excellence who will be missed by those that had been benefiting from his kind gesture”.

The House therefore removed his name tag from his seat and observed a minute silence for the late lawmaker.

Obasa however directed the Clerk, Mr Azeez Sanni to write INEC and APC on the demise of Late Tunde Braimoh.
