Algeria came from behind to draw with Russia and reach the last 16 of a World Cup for the first time.

Ex-England boss Fabio Capello saw his Russia side take an early lead when an unmarked Aleksandr Kokorin headed in from Dmitri Kombarov’s left-wing cross.

But Algeria grabbed an equaliser in the second half as Islam Slimani converted from Yacine Brahimi’s free-kick.

Russia could not score a winning goal as Algeria held on to secure a tie with Germany in the second round on Monday, reports the BBC.

And in the other game, 10-man Belgium beat South Korea to finish top of their World Cup group and set up a last-16 tie against USA.

The onus was on a South Korea side needing a win to attack and they were helped when Steven Defour was sent off for a reckless tackle on Kim Shin-wook.

A Son Heung-Min cross struck the face of the Belgium crossbar but the Asian side struggled to create chances.

Jan Vertonghen then scored a Red Devils winner when he slotted in after a Divock Origi shot was parried.
