Politics without bitterness played out in Oyo State on Wednesday as Governor Abiola Ajimobi announced the appointment of Alhaja Ololade Agboola as the new Head of Service (HoF) of the state.
Alhaja Agboola is the wife of former Deputy Whip of the Senate and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ayoola Agboola alias Alleluyah.
She replaces Mrs Hanah Ogunesan who transferred her service to the federal civil service.
At a brief swearing-in ceremony held at the Governor’s Office Executive Chamber, Governor Ajimobi confirmed the appointment that took many by surprise.
Alhaja Agboola hails from Ibadan and was until her appointment a Permanent Secretary in the state civil service.
Her husband represented Oyo North Senatorial District between 2011 and 2015 and was an influential leader of the party in the state leading to the 2015 election.
Agboola’s predecessor, Mrs Hanah Ogunesan, was said to have considered the option a few days to the governorship election won by Engr. Seyi Makinde of the PDP.
It is, however, unclear whether the decision to transfer her service was due to the loss suffered by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the just-concluded election in the state.
