*Again, Caretaker Committee is silent on National Convention
Following the postponement of the congresses of the All Progressives Congress initially billed to start on July 24, a new date has now been set for the exercise.
The congresses will now start with the ward congress on July 31 following a letter from the party to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
In the letter dated July 11, the party said the Local Government and State Congresses would follow “sequentially upon the completion of the ward congress.”
It was signed by the Chairman, National Caretaker Committee of the party who is also Yobe State Governor, Mallam Mai Mala Buni, and Secretary, Senator John Akpanuoedehe
For the second time, the party has remained silent on the date for the National Convention, raising concerns over the real plan of the new leaders of the party.
The APC had on July 6, 2021 written the electoral body to notify it of the stoppage of the congresses planned to start on July 24, informing that a new date would be communicated to the commission at a later date.
