The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has clarified that campaign for the election will continue till 24 hours to the election.
The Presidential and National Assembly elections have been rescheduled for Saturday February 23.
INEC had shifted the election from February 16 citing logistical problems.
The commission’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity Oluwole Uzi had clarified the position while speaking on Monday night on Channels TV Political programme.
After postponing the elections, INEC had placed a ban on campaigns and collection of PVCs saying it remains closed as it was a day before the postponed polls.
But this is inconsistent with the provision of the Electoral Act which says campaigns must begin 90 days to the election and end 24 hours to the polls.
