BREAKING: Churches,  Mosques Remain Closed For Now, Says Gov. Abiodun

The Executive Governor of Ogun State, Dr. Dapo Abiodun has said religious gathering remained closed for now until June 19th, 2020 when a guideline is fine-tuned with the religious leaders.

Speaking at a press conference held at the governor’s office in Abeokuta on Friday,  he said the meeting was held with religious leaders and directive was given that recommendations should be submitted  June 12, before any directives can come from government.

He, however, said that the lockdown still remained between Monday to Friday, stressing that no movement in Ogun State between Saturday and Sunday.

The Governor said the religious leaders appreciated the efforts of the State Government in combating COVID-19 pandemic and are pleased with the outcome as reflected in the high testing capacity, faster turn-around, and comparable lower mortality rate

The Governor appreciated the cooperation of the religious leaders over time in the fight against COVID-19, particularly, their submissions on the relaxation of restrictions on religious activities, which are practical, similar, and mutually reinforcing.
