The Court has stopped the Independent national Electoral Commission from collation and announcement of Bauchi governorship election results.
INEC had earlier halted further announcement of the results, declaring the March 9 election in the state as inconclusive. It then fixed supplementary poll in Tafawa Balewa Local Government for this Saturday, March 23.
But at the weekend, the commission said it had examined what transpired in the council following which collation was suspended and resolved to reopen collation of the results in Tafawa Balewa LG.
INEC had then fixed collation of results in the local government in Bauchi for today, Tuesday March 19.
But dissatisfied with the decision, the All Progressives Congress and its candidate, Governor Muhammed Abubakar, had approached the court to stop INEC from collation of the results. They prayed the court to order INEC to conduct the supplementary poll in the local government.
From the results available so far, APC’s Governor Abubakar is trailing PDP’s Alhaji Bala Muhammed.
