A family comprising father, mother and their 17-day-old baby were feared to have drowned late Wednesday at Marine Jetty, Badagry in Lagos.
It was gathered that the family took off from the jetty at night with a paddling canoe without light. But a few metres from take off point, a speed boat returning to base swept them off balance with accompanying wave.
The driver of the fibre speed boat later reported the incident at Badagry Police Station.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the incident to WESTERN POST on Thursday.
NEMA Information Officer in the South-west, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye described the incident as unfortunate.
He said the police in Badagry were already investigating the matter.
